The Burgers of Magnificent Wonder, or… Turkey, Turkey, Turkey!

As time goes by, I’m thinking more about how I want to use this blog.  The amount of work, and pressure involved in trying to make it ultra-successful seems like a lot of pressure for me right now, when added to the list of all of my other responsibilities.

However,  when considered in the context of being used as a tool for things I want to remember, then, this blog becomes more fun, more useful, and less pressure.

Take tonight for example, we made some amazing turkey burgers. They were aided, by the fact that The Girl Wonder made some amazing homemade burger buns that we used also.

But still, we wanted to remember how we made them. I didn’t get all fancy and take pictures before hand, because I wasn’t sure they would be all that great. So we will have to deal with a picture of the finished products. I’ll get more savvy if I do this more, and try take more pictures.

Here’s how we did it:

1) Take a couple of pounds of ground turkey. We didn’t use ground turkey breast – just the regular Foster Farms ground turkey.

2) Add a good drizzle of olive oil – as Rachel Ray would say, a “couple turns” of the bowl.

3) Add some feta – as much as looks good. We probably threw in about a cup to a cup and a quarter.

4) Add a healthy sprinkle of Johnny’s Seasoning Salt, or whatever your preferred brand is.  We probably threw in a good 2 tablespoons.

Cook them on the BBQ.

Eat up!

120 days and counting

120 days…
There are 120 days that remain until we board a plane for Hawaii; and this, my friends, is when the hysteria in the my house starts to build.

We believe, you see, that part of the fun is in the preparations. Because trips are over so quickly, and imagining all of the scenarios, needs, and adventures you’ll have over the course of the trip is all part of our fun.

Towards that end, I have a new iPad air for syncing my photos. I will carry my newly ordered Shootsac to keep my dslr handy for lots of photos. We are very excited about making another photo book like we did last year. I wonder what the total photo count for this trip will be?

I’d like to take Captain America again – and take more photos with him. It just always seems to fall apart though because it’s actually kind of time consuming to set up those shots, and usually everyone else is ready to move on.

I’m starting to think about a preliminary packing list for me and the kids. I think it is very helpful to do this actually, because the more I think about it and write down thoughts as they come to me, the fewer packing mistakes I make… At least, that’s what I tell myself!

Note – I wrote this a while ago, but just found it here, unpublished.  So, better late than never!
